This section of our community will attempt to approach sound on a non-technical level (layman terms); Hopefully, without doing a disservice to the scientific aspects of sound.

Being a sound person requires the merging of two mediums that do not usually go hand in hand with one another. -Science and Art

One medium (Science) consists of a language all its own using words like dB, slew rate, and frequency. When the language is spoken properly, it can make most normal speaking folks wonder what planet the person speaking hails from.

On the opposite end of the scale, the second medium (Art) cares about the artistic aspect of sound usage. Was the balance right? Did the sound enhance the overall performance?

The truth of the matter is both sides have to exist in order to effectively run sound. Some technical knowledge and some artistic skill (such as having a good ear) makes all the difference in running sound like a pro.

This forum, as well as the upcoming videos, will attempt to merge this sound dichotomy into a usable and easy to understand reference guide for sound people.
