The definition of sound is the movement or changes in pressure in air. As sound is created it pulses through the air. When the pulses reach the human ear, the eardrum responds and vibrates with each pulse. Then the ear converts the eardrums vibrations to an electrical energy which our brains understand as sound. We hear dogs barking, babies crying, people singing, thunder, and the tree falling in the forest. All are vibrations traveling through the air.
