New Guitar 3 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I've been playing guitar for a couple of months now, not time for a new guitar yet, but I'm still searching to find the right one for when I am ready.

I've thought about Ibanez Xiphos, ESP Viper, or Dean Razorback.

All rather expensive, so I'm wondering what y'all think?

I want to be able to do pinch harmonics well, so I'd go for ESP, or just turn grunge up on my grunge pedal.

I like Ibanez, so the look and sound of the Xiphos would suit me.

But I LOVE Pantera and want to have that kind of deep sound to my music.

I can't decide, just wondering if y'all could help.

Daniel

i dont believe the Viper is an actual ESP, but an LTd. it might be better to go with the Ibanez... or have you looked into a Stratocaster? they can be great guitars for their price....

i personally dont like the feel of the Dimebag guitars.. not sure what exact model of Ibanez that is, but i probably have played it sometime or another...

just all depends on your style of playing... Stratocaster would be the most versatile. especially if you get an HSS model.

thats what i use (Fender American Deluxe HSS) i just lower the middle pickup so it doesnt get in the way of my pick.

If you love Pantera, then get something with EMG pickups.

Godin makes an LG model with 2 EMG 81's. This is for getting a Zakk Wylde kind of tone. That guitar is in the $950 range. It may or may not be for you.

Good call Steve. The LG gets terrific reviews. Check out Harmony Central. http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Godin/LG/10/1
I would suggest buying locally from Encore because you can get that hometown support (plug). Go with Musician's Friend if you like factory 2nds and rejects with scuff marks that were stepped on by the truck driver, but since nobody checks the inventory before it leaves, the buyer got a junker kind of guitar.
